The climate on Curaçao
Sunshine all year round, but these are the smartest times to go
Curaçao has one of the most reliable climates in the Caribbean. The island lies outside the hurricane belt, experiences hardly any extreme rainfall, and has year-round temperatures between 27 and 32°C. Whether you book in January or October, the sun almost always shines.

What makes Curaçao’s climate special?
Dry, sunny, and outside the hurricane belt—a rare combination in the Caribbean.
Curaçao has a tropical savanna climate with two seasons: a dry season and a less dry season. There is no real rainy season like on other Caribbean islands. The trade winds provide pleasant cooling all year round, so the heat never feels oppressive. The average water temperature is between 26 and 28°C — ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and diving.
Best time to travel to Curaçao
When is the best time to travel to Curaçao?
The best time to travel to Curaçao is January through August. During this period, it is the driest, the skies are clearest, and the water is calmest: ideal for the beach, diving, and day trips. This is also the most popular period, so book in time.
Advantage of the low season (September–December): fewer crowds, lower prices, and still plenty of sun. Rain showers are short and intense, but quickly make way for blue skies again.

Curaçao and the hurricane season
Why Curaçao is safer than other Caribbean islands.
The official hurricane season in the Caribbean runs from June to November. However, Curaçao lies far outside the usual hurricane routes, in the so-called ABC islands north of Venezuela. Historically, hurricanes have rarely or never hit the island. This makes Curaçao one of the safest Caribbean destinations to visit, even in the summer.
